Bromley Friends of the Earth

Welcome to the Bromley Friends of the Earth web site.
Bromley Friends of the Earth (FoE) is run entirely by volunteers with the aim of promoting environmental issues and understanding, in the Borough of Bromley. We are affiliated to the national Friends of the Earth, but are completely independent of it.

We meet at 7:30pm on the first Tuesday of each month, at the Friends Meeting House, Ravensbourne Road, Bromley. Non members are always welcome to attend meetings which usually feature a quality speaker. In joining the group you can devote as much or as little time that you have available. Whaterver you choose, you can make a difference!

The group has been going strong for 36 years, and is as active as ever. Current local activities include fighting inappropiate development proposals and defending the green belt, lobbying MPs and councillors and getting involved in local problems such as road congestion, lack of public transport, opposing the expansion of Biggin Hill Airport etc.

National Friends of the Earth has a very varied spectrum of campaign subjects (see below). As well as concentrating on local issues we do a lot of work to promote these national campaigns in Bromley. Recent work has seen us campaign on crucial national issues like climate change, GM foods and encouraging alternative energy etc.

Membership of the group costs £8 p a, for which a monthly newsletter is received for a year. This is a subsidised price to promote the functions of the group. Costs are covered with the help of donations etc. The newsletter is also available electronically.
